Expansion of Countywide Clean Up Days
2/3/2010
The Elmore County Commission is pleased to announce the expansion of Countywide Clean Up Days from once a quarter to six times annually.  The additional clean up days are the result of an agreement reached between the County Commission and Advanced Disposal.  Along with more clean up days, the agreement provides for the county to have ten free drop-off locations available to citizens across the county on each clean up day.  That is five additional drop-off locations for county residents at no charge.

The County Commission has been closely monitoring the use of the two transfer stations in Elmore County, one at Flatwood and one in Central.  Advanced Disposal has operated these convenience centers for a quantity- based charge to citizens and contractors.  Because the two locations have not been receiving much business, the County Commission agreed to their closing.  In exchange, the solid waste contractor agreed to add additional days and locations to the free countywide clean ups.

Based on the new agreement, Advanced Disposal is closing the transfer stations to the public effective Saturday, February 27, 2010.  Accordingly, the first of five countywide clean up days scheduled this year will be held Saturday, March 13, 2010.  Thereafter, the Countywide Clean Up Days will be held the second Saturday every other month, i.e., every odd numbered month.  The remaining dates for Countywide Clean Ups this year are March 13, May 8, July 10, September 11, and November 13.

The current Countywide Clean Up drop-off locations are at the old highway department in Kent, corner of Redland and Firetower Roads, old highway department shop in Holtville, Crenshaw Park, Sweeten School, Emerald Mountain Equestrian Center, County Judicial Complex, R & M Spirit Service Station at 231 and Titus Rd., Claud Independent Church, and the Annex Building in the Town of Elmore.  The dates, times and locations for the Countywide Clean Ups are listed on the Elmore County web page Calendar of Events at www.elmoreco.org.

We hope all Elmore County residents will take advantage of these additional opportunities to conveniently drop off household and yard trash free of charge.
