Commissioner Mack Daugherty took office as County Commissioner of District 2 on November 16, 2016. Mack was also appointed to serve as Vice-Chair for the Commission. Commissioner Daugherty was previously appointed to finish the term of a previous Commissioner and served from November 17, 2011 through November 13, 2012.

Commissioner Daugherty was born in Alexander City and graduated from Benjamin Russell High School. Mack has been a resident of Elmore County for the past 44 years. After being employed 20 years as a locomotive engineer with CSX Railroad, Mack retired. He then founded and has owned Lake Martin Security, Inc. for 34 years. Commissioner Daugherty has also been employed as Chief of Security for Russell Lands, Inc. for 24 years.

Commissioner Daugherty is an active member of the community and serves on the Trustmark Bank Board of Directors (Eclectic and Tallassee Branches). He is a member of the Fraternal Order of Police (local and national) and the Alabama Peace Officers Association. Mack graduated from the University of Alabama Law Enforcement Academy. He also previously served in the United States Army and Army Reserve.

For more than 44 years, Mack has served as the Minister of Music at various churches. He is an Ordained Deacon and currently serves as the Worship Leader at Church in the Pines on Lake Martin.

Commissioner Daugherty is married to Mary Colley Daugherty of Eclectic, and they have two grown children, Corey Daugherty and Dr. Cecelia D. Smith and four grandchildren.
