Commissioner Desirae Lewis Jackson took office as County Commissioner of District 5 on November 11, 2020. Commissioner Jackson is the youngest person elected to the Elmore County Commission.
Commissioner Jackson is a Wetumpka native and a graduate of Wetumpka High School. Commissioner Jackson graduated magna cum laude from the University of Alabama in 2011. She then obtained her Juris Doctor, From Jones School of Law at Faulkner University in 2014. She is currently the owner of the Lewis Law Firm, PC located in Wetumpka, Alabama, and practices law throughout central Alabama.
Commissioner Jackson is active in the community. Desirae volunteers for numerous organizations including the Wetumpka Depot Players (Millbrook and Prattville small theaters), and the Elmore County Children’s Policy Council. She serves as the President of the Elmore County Bar Association. She previously served on the Board of Directors for the Elmore County Health Care Authority. Desirae is also a founding member of the West Elmore Lions Club. In August 2023, Commissioner Jackson was appointed by Governor Kay Ivey to the Alabama Local Government Training Institute Board.
Commissioner Jackson is married to Regis Jackson. She is a lifelong member of Liberty Hill Baptist Church where she serves as assistant secretary and is a member of the church choir. She also enjoys watching her nephew, Billy III, play soccer where she assists as a sponsor and member of the film crew for her nephew’s Wetumpka United Soccer team.
