Commissioner Mack Daugherty took office as County Commissioner of District 2 on November 11, 2020. Mack was appointed to serve as Vice-Chair for the Commission.


Commissioner Mack Daugherty served a previous term beginning on November 16, 2016. Commissioner Daugherty was also appointed to finish the term of a previous Commissioner and served from November 17, 2011 through November 13, 2012.


Commissioner Mack Daugherty was born in Alexander City and graduate from Benjamin Russell High School. He has been a resident of Elmore County for over 45 years. Mack retired as a locomotive engineer after 20 years of being employed with CSX Railroad. Commissioner Daugherty then founded and has owned Lake Martin Security, Inc. for over 35 years. Commissioner Daugherty recently retired from Russell Lands, Inc. after serving as Chief of Security for 25 years.


Commissioner Daugherty is an active member of the community and serves on the Trustmark Bank Board of Directors (Eclectic and Tallassee Branches). He is a member of the Fraternal Order of Police (local and national) and the Alabama Peace Officers Association. Mack graduated from the University of Alabama Law Enforcement Academy. He also previously served in the United States Army and Army Reserve. 


For more than 45 years, Mack has served as the Minister of Music at various churches. He is an Ordained Deacon and currently serves as the Worship Leader at Church in the Pines on Lake Martin. 


Commissioner Daugherty is married to Mary Colley Daugherty of Eclectic, and they have two grown children, Corey Daugherty and Dr. Cecelia D. Smith and four grandchildren.
