  • Where do I take items that are not household waste?

    The Elmore County Commission, in partnership with the City of Wetumpka, has opened a centrally located collection facility. The collection facility replaces the previous once a month countywide cleanup day. 


    The facility located on Red Eagle Drive in Wetumpka, will begin limited operations during the week. An attendant will be present at the facility to ensure disposal of items are properly executed.


    Operating Days and Times:

    Tuesdays 7am to 3pm

    Thursdays 7am to 3pm

    Saturdays 7am to 12pm

  • Where do I pay my traffic ticket?

    Traffic tickets issued by City Police are paid at the City Hall in the municipality where the ticket was issued. Other Traffic tickets can be paid at the Elmore County Judicial Complex in the Circuit Clerk's Office at 8935 US Highway 231 N, Wetumpka, AL 36092. The Circuit Clerk's Office is open Monday through Friday from 8:00am until 4:30pm.

  • Who do I call to report a road, bridge or drainage issue on a county road?

    The Elmore County Public Works Department maintains the 1,000-mile county road systems. During normal business hours, calls should be reported at (334) 567-1162 or roads@elmoreco.org. After hours non-emergency should leave a detailed message or submit an email.

  • Does the county spray for mosquitoes?

    Elmore County does not spray for mosquitoes. Because cities are smaller and more populated, some of the municipalities in the county do have a mosquito-spraying program. The best way to fight mosquitoes is to prevent them from multiplying. Eliminating all sources of standing water around your home where mosquitoes breed will help prevent their spread.

  • Does the County install driveway pipe or turnouts off a county road?

    The Elmore County Public Works Department approves access points for residential and commercial owners to connect or tie in to a county road. An access permit can be obtained by calling (334) 567-1162 or emailing roads@elmoreco.org. Developments containing multiple lots should refer to the Elmore County Access Management Policy and Elmore County Subdivision & Land Development Regulations. 


  • What hours is the Administrative Complex open?

    The Elmore County Administrative Complex at the Historic Courthouse, located 100 East Commerce Street in downtown Wetumpka, is normally open Monday through Friday from 8:00am until 4:30pm, doors close to the public at 4:15pm.

  • When and where does the Commission meet?

    The Elmore County Commission meets in a Work Session at 5:00pm on the second and fourth Monday each month (except when conferences or other meetings conflict - see the calendar). During the month of December, the Commission only meets once; typically the second Monday of the month.  Commission Business Meetings are conducted immediately following the Work Sessions (usually around 6:00pm).

  • Who do I contact about stray or problem animals or to report instances of animal neglect or cruelty?

    Contact the Elmore County Sheriff’s Dispatch Office at (334) 567-5227, and the County Animal Control Officer will be dispatched.

  • Does Elmore County require building permits or have zoning restrictions?

    At present, there are no zoning restrictions or building permit requirements for property located in rural Elmore County. If the property in question is inside a planning jurisdiction of any municipality, the City Planning Department should be contacted for permit requirements. However, a development permit is required prior to any construction taking place on property located within a floodplain. For more information please call 334-567-1162 or email roads@elmoreco.org.

  • Who do I contact about a dead animal on the road or on the right-of-way in front of my home?

    Contact the Elmore County Sheriff’s Dispatch Office at (334) 567-5227, and the County Animal Control Officer will be dispatched.

  • How do I dispose of paint, fluorescent bulbs or other hazardous waste?

    Paint waste, from a household, may be disposed at Stone's Throw Landfill once the paint has solidified. For hours and disposal rates, please call (334) 252-1210. If paint waste is from a business, it is subject to a hazardous waste determination and requires special approval from Alabama Department of Environmental Management (ADEM) prior to disposal.  To obtain a hazardous waste approval, please contact Cala Obenauf at (334) 271-7824.

  • How do I report an illegal solid waste or scrap tire dump site?

    “For information regarding the reporting or remediation of an illegal solid waste or scrap tire dump site, please contact Mike Cruise at the Alabama Department of Environmental Management, Removals and Response Unit at (334)271-7938 or mcruise@adem.alabama.gov.

  • Where do I record a deed?

    Deeds are recorded in the Probate Office at 100 E. Commerce in Suite 100. For questions, please call (334) 567-1140.

  • Where do I obtain an absentee ballot?

    Absentee ballots can be obtained from the Circuit Clerk’s Office in the Judicial Complex at 8935 US Highway 231 in Wetumpka. For questions, please call (334) 514-3116 ext. 4409.

  • Who collects sales & use tax for Elmore County?

    AVENU, formerly known as Revenue Discovery Systems (RDS) collects sales & use tax for Elmore County. If you are unsure about your Tax ID Number or have questions, please email support@revds.com or dial 800-556-7274 and press option 1.
